The sales arm for the former Southnews regional press business is to be transferred to Amra. The move follows the group’s acquisition by Trinity Mirror last year (see Trinity Mirror Buys Southnews For £284m).
Sales representation for the group’s stable of over eighty regional titles will be transferred on 4 June, further strengthening Amra’s position as the largest single buying point for the medium. Over 28% of all regional press titles are now sold through Amra, a weekly circulation of 18m.
Most importantly, the acquisition increases Amra’s coverage of London from 8.2% to 47.3%. It now represents the largest publisher in the region with 47.3% coverage of all adults.
Gary McNish, managing director of Amra, said: “The geographical and strategic value of these titles to the Amra portfolio and to advertisers is immense. We now offer even greater coverage in the leading regions in the UK – including London where for the first time we represent the largest publisher, giving us real critical mass to develop media packages and creative solutions and further strengthening our case for national upweight schedules.”
