AOP announces Digital Publishing Awards shortlist

AOP Logo The Association of Online Publishers has announced the shortlist for its 2009 Digital Publishing Awards.

Winners for each of the 17 categories, which include innovation, mobile and commercial partnership, will be announced at an awards dinner on June 2 in London.

Bauer Media’s digital sales team, Future Publishing’s digital ad team and IPC Media’s Ignite are among the eight nominees for the Digital Ad Sales Team award, which also features two RBI teams – eNewsletters and Job Sites.

Meanwhile, Future Publishing’s ‘Engagement Counts Research’ comes up in the Research & Insights Project category, alongside Nat Mag’s ‘We Know Women Online’ and ITV’s ‘State of the Online Nation’.

The shortlisted nominations across all the categories represent consumer and business publishers – the most nominations were received by IPC and Reed Business Information with 13 each.

Guardian News & Media came a close second with 10 nominations, followed by News International and Incisive Media’s seven nominations each and UBM’s six nominations.

The broadcasters include six nominations for BSkyB, while the BBC and Channel 4 scored five each, BBC Worldwide gained three and ITV was nominated in just one category.

Alison Reay, AOP’s chairman and the Telegraph Media Group’s Digital & Multi-Media director, said: “We’re pleased to showcase the exacting calibre of entries – businesses, case studies and individual achievements – celebrating, even more critically this year, those publishers and individuals that contributed to and made a real difference to our industry.

“In a challenging business year, it is even more important to recognise and reward businesses in the publishing sector that dare to innovate.”
