The ‘second screen’ tablet market is doing better than ever and they have Apple to thank.
According to IDC, the high demand for the iPad2 has seen shipments reach 9.5 million units, representing a 68.3% share of the worldwide market (up from 65.7% the previous year).
Apple’s success has much to do with the overall growth of the tablet market, as shipments reached 88.9% on a sequential basis and a huge 303.8% year over year in the second calender quarter of 2011 to 13.6 million units.
