Around 16% of the population in Hungary have access to the internet, according to research by NetValue as reported on Europemedia. Separate research from KOD Business and Media Research puts the figure at 16.3%.
This is below the critical mass at which the Net starts to have significant effects on business and society, says KOD; this point is thought be reached at around 25% penetration.
Home internet access in increasing in Hungary, according to the surveys, although it is still low at around 6% of households.
