asi Conference 2008: NBC top shows measured across all platforms

NBC Logo NBC’s president of research, Alan Wurtzel, explained how top US shows are measured across TV, Mobile and Online.

Speaking at the asi European TV Symposium in Lisbon, Wurzel demonstrated how unique users for each platform are aggregated to provide total reach numbers, in order to demonstrate the overall figures for shows.

Wurtzel used the latest series of Lost as an example, where the overall numbers for the series to date showed that out of 102 million total “visits” to the shows content, only 77 million were delivered by TV, with the remainder made up by Mobile and Online.

The interest in the service was attributed to the following point made by Wurtzel, regarding the current position of cross media measurement: “there’s such a vacuum of information people are responding to anything that provides them insight.”
