ASI To Hold European Radio & TV Symposium In November

ASI Advertising Seminars International is holding a European TV and Radio conference in Lisbon in November, looking at developments in areas such as cross-platform TV viewing and the future of radio in a multi-platform age.

Speaking at the radio event on November 5 will be Sally de la Bedoyere, MD of RAJAR, and Alison Winter, head of research at The RadioCentre, amongst others.

The television conference, running from November 6-7, will focus on several areas, and includes a presentation from NBC Universal’s president of research and media development, Alan Wurtzel, on cross-platform TV viewing.

For the first week of its recent Olympics coverage, NBC said that it reached 180 million viewers in America, with an online audience of around 7.5 million individuals a day and over 25 million video streams served in the first week.

NBC uses a Total Audience Measurement index or TAMi, to show reach across television, online, mobile and video on demand.

Using data from Nielsen for television, Ominiture for online, and Rentrak for video on demand, TAMi is an attempt by NBC to measure media exposure across different platforms.

The early Olympic data shows that about half those who used a mobile device to watch NBC Olympic content were using it in this way for the first time.

Also speaking at the TV conference are Julian Dobinson, head of research at BSkyB, and David Brennan, research and strategy director at Thinkbox.
