B-Road Britain Bags The Viewers

Robbie Coltrane The enthralling Robbie Coltrane: B-Road Britain was winner in the 9pm slot last night, as the amiable Scot carried on his 400-mile road trip from London to Glasgow in a bid to rediscover Britain’s forgotten backwaters.

The show had a peak audience of 4.8 million adult viewers ( a 23.9% share of the audience) and an average of 4.6 million stayed tuned for its hour duration.

Over on BBC One at 9pm was a fantastic instalment of Panorama, which featured an undercover investigation into dog-fighting and illegal dogs.

The sickening violence was quite hard to stomach in some places, but a peak of 2.7 million adults (a 13.4% share) girded their loins and watched as the net closed in on the thugs getting their kicks from dog-on-dog violence.

The Steve Coogan comedy Saxondale was on BBC Two at 9.30pm, and the sitcom about an ex-roadie working in pest control managed to grab a peak of 1.8 million adults (a 6.7% share).

As Big Brother draws to a close, the penultimate episode bagged a peak of three million adult viewers (a 15.1% share) at 9pm on Channel 4.

The second part of BBC Two’s new reality series The Restaurant, on at 8pm, had a peak of two million adults, about the same amount who watched the series opener on Wednesday night (see Supernanny Triumphs Over The Restaurant).
