Barclays Says Confidence In Online Banking Is At All Time High

The latest results from the quarterly Barclays Internet Index reveal that online confidence has risen yet again to an all time high.

Internet usage has remained at 46% over the last three months whilst confidence has been increasing steadily since August 2001 according to the bank. Internet users are conducting more complex day-to-day tasks – for example banking and bill payment – online.

The research, carried out by NOP Omnibus on behalf of Barclays, shows confidence at 118.57 points with use remaining at 46%t for February. This compares to NovemberÂ’s figures of 111.35 points and 46% respectively.

Simon Newman, echannels director at Barclays, said “We are seeing a pattern emerge. The internet’s novelty value is wearing off for some people but at the same time they are using more of the services they genuinely benefit from. A good example is online banking – customers use internet services cautiously to start with, but as trust and confidence grow, the number of features they use increases.”
