BBC And Sky Team Up For Interactive Wimbledon Broadcasts

Sky Digital viewers watching Wimbledon tennis on BBC1 and BBC2 through their digital receivers this year will be able to watch up to five live matches at a time using interactive technology.

The BBC’s director of new media, Ashley Highfield, said, “I’m thrilled that by working together with Sky, the BBC can offer this groundbreaking Wimbledon Interactive service. We look forward to working with Sky again.”

BBC Wimbledon Interactive will let viewers pick either one particular match to watch with live commentary, or have up to five live matches appear on screen simultaneously with constantly updated scores.

Sky began offering interactive services for its own sports coverage in 1999 with football matches. Since then six other sports including US Open tennis have had similar services added. The platform also offers a betting service.
