Birt To Reveal Future Plans For BBC

John Birt has jumped straight into his new role as director general of the BBC by replanning the Corporation’s managerial structure and introducing some new blood into the fold. These changes will be made public on Monday when Birt is expected to announce the appointment of Liz Forgan (currently director of programmes at Channel 4 ) as managing director, as well as other key executive appointments.

It is also expected that Birt will attempt to introduce closer links between the radio and television departments of the BBC breaking down the barriers that currently exist in areas such as music and drama.
