Bliss To Boost Circulation With Mobile Ringtones And Logos

Emap’s Bliss is to offer mobile ring tones and logos as covermounts for the first time, as part of an innovative new initiative to increase interaction with its teenage readers.
Every issue of Bliss will now offer readers the chance to register for a series of free mobile rewards, which include 10,000 new ringtones featuring Blue’s new single Guilty, along with 10,000 mobile ringtones.
The initiative is being run by mobile marketing company, Flytxt, to reward loyal Bliss readers and drive the growth of the magazine’s SMS Club, which currently has almost 30,000 registered users.
Flytxt claims that the majority of the youth market use text messaging and mobiles as their preferred means of communication. It is estimated that teenagers in Europe spend around £266 million per annum on the medium.
Commenting on the promotion, Fiona Jenkins, product manager of Bliss, said: “This give-away forms part of our ongoing mobile marketing strategy. We want to increase interaction with our readers, develop the relationship, and encourage loyalty to Bliss magazine.”
The latest ABC results for the six months to June 2003 show that Bliss saw its circulation increase by a nominal 0.1% year on year to 250,543. The magazine relaunched as an A5-sized title back in March, in an attempt to position itself as the ultimate baby glossy (see Bliss To Relaunch With A5 Format).
