BlowUp Launches First Giant Sites Package
![]()
Blow Up Media has launched the first ever giant sites package in response to growing demand from advertisers wishing to take advantage of the niche medium.
The ‘Big City’ campaign covers London’s financial district with four illuminated sites all over 150 metres square. The sites at the Commercial Road, Whitechapel, Great Eastern Street and Farringdon Road are positioned head on to traffic and offer advertisers “intensive burst” opportunities.
BlowUp Media’s director of sales, Jonathan Tasker, said: “This campaign is a response to many requests we have had from our clients. Since we launched 18 months ago we have been able to demonstrate to advertisers that giant posters are a mainstream outdoor medium rather than a vehicle for one off-stunts.”
The giant media sector has been been performing relatively well in the face of the current advertising slowdown. BlowUp recently launched its first airline campaign since the events of 11 September (see BlowUp Media Launches Airline Campaign) and Mega Profile signed a deal with Littlewoods earlier in the month allowing it to use the retail chain’s 350 properties as giant advertising sites (see Mega Profile Signs Littlewoods Deal).
Overall, the outdoor industry has also been enjoying a period of growth with the worsening economic climate causing advertisers to shift away from TV towards other mediums (see Ad Revenue On The Up For Outdoor). The sector saw ad revenue rise in the first half of this year and the Outdoor Advertising Association predicts that Q3 results will show that the medium is performing better than the rest of the industry (see First Half Revenue Rises For Outdoor).
