The takeover of ITN by a Carlton-led consortium is still being stalled by a dispute over the news supplier’s base in Gray’s Inn Road. Carlton has made it clear that the deal will not go any further until it can buy the freehold of ITN’s headquarters but it looks unlikely that this will be resolved for some time. Thames TV is rumoured to be waiting in the wings with a rival bid for ITN, following its failure to win the Channel 5 licence last year. Carlton is refusing to comment on the present situation.
