Carlton Screen Advertising Opens Up New ‘Outdoor’ Market

Carlton Screen Advertising has moved into the outdoor market with the introduction of 6-sheet posters into over 200 cinemas throughout the country. From September over 500 new poster sites will be created targeting cinema-goers as they enter the cinema.

Studies have shown that around 70% of people who visit the cinema arrive at least ten minutes early and make use of the increased facilities in foyers which include bars, restaurants, TV’s and creches. CSA will work closely with poster specialists to target national brands for the slots and hopes to attract new brands to cinema in categories such as fashion and music which may not currently include cinema as part of their media mix.

Debbie Chalet, managing director of CSA, said: “We believe that this is not only a great opportunity for existing advertisers to maximise awareness and impact for their products but it also provides an opportunity for non-broadcast advertisers to get involved in the cinema experience and tap into the young, affluent increasing number of cinema-goers.”

The panels will be sold as two-week campaigns in line with existing 6-sheet campaigns and will be priced according to seasonality and admissions. CSA plans to increase the number of units to independent cinemas in the UK and to CSA represented cinemas in Ireland. It is also looking at other possibilities for ad slots including cinema car parks and exterior walls.
