Carlton/ITN Deal Draws To Close

It is seen as highly unlikely that the takeover of ITN by a Carlton Communications-led consortium will be referred to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission, according to reports. This means that the takeover will likely be finalised this week, although neither ITN nor Carlton is willing to comment on the situation.

The case has already been examined by the Department of Trade & Industry, following a report by the Office of Fair Trading and it is likely that the £75m deal will come to a conclusion towards the end of this week.
