CBS Outdoor Wins £100 Million Arriva Bus Contract

Arriva Bus CBS Outdoor has won the five-year £100 million contract to manage advertising for Arriva buses in the UK until 2012.

With almost 20% of the London market, Arriva is one of the largest bus operators in the capital with a fleet of 1,500 vehicles. It is also one of the top three bus operators in the UK and operates a fleet of more than 6,500 buses across the country including services in major UK cities such as Liverpool, Leeds, Glasgow and Manchester as well as having a strong presence in Wales the Midlands and Home Counties.

Under the terms of the , CBS Outdoor will be responsible for all advertising opportunities including all interior and exterior formats to enable advertisers to target the millions of passenger journeys made on Arriva buses each year.

Following the appointment CBS Outdoor says it will continue to invest in the advertising inventory to introduce the latest product innovations and quality displays with new illuminated formats and digital signage introduced later next year.

Jason Cotterrell, commercial director at CBS Outdoor, said: “Arriva’s decision to award the contract to us is a great endorsement of our proposition and ability to capture and captivate consumers on the move.

“The win helps strengthen our position and support our belief that a unified bus advertising market can support even further growth in the outdoor market as a whole.”

Mark Yexley, managing director at Arriva London, added: “CBS Outdoor had to overcome strong competition for this contract and we were influenced by their strong track record in driving the industry forward.”

The Outdoor giant recently announced it has retained the £40 million contract to manage the advertising on National Express buses in the UK for a further five years (see CBS Outdoor Retains Multi-Million Pound National Express Contract), whilst the company also recently introduced the next phase in its £72 million London Underground transformation programme, launching its new high definition LCD advertising screens in Tube ticket halls and corridors (see New LCD Ad Screens Rolled Out On London Underground).
