Channel 4 Signs GCap Boss To Scout Radio Opportunities

Channel 4 Logo Channel 4 has poached a second high profile director to develop its own network of radio stations, with GCap Media’s director of mergers, acquisitions and development, Gill Hind, joining the broadcaster to identify investment opportunities for Channel 4 in the UK radio sector.

The appointment follows Channel 4’s signing of Nathalie Schwarz, former strategy and development director at Capital Radio, to oversee its expansion into the radio market (see Schwarz To Oversee Channel 4’s Digital Radio Development).

Hind, who worked previously with Schwarz at Capital Radio prior to the £711 million merger with GWR, will now become Channel 4’s first radio development manager, reporting to Schwarz after joining the broadcaster this month.

The new role will see Hind scouting radio investment opportunities for Channel 4 following chief executive Andy Duncan’s pledge to bid for the second national DAB multiplex later this year (see Channel 4 Announces Plans For Digital Radio).

Commenting on the appointment, Schwarz said: “Gill has a wealth of relevant experience from her time with Capital and GCap and I’m delighted to have her on board. This is another step towards putting together a top-class team to oversee the development of a truly compelling Channel 4 proposition in radio.”
