Viacom, MTV’s parent company, is considering taking a stake in Channel 5 Holdings, the sole bidder for the Channel 5 licence. The main partners in the consortium so far are Thames Television and CityTV Toronto.
The Independent Television Commission has received 145 comments on the Channel 5 licence. These will be presented to the Commission at a meeting in September and a decision on the licence is expected in early November.
