Channel One Rates Highest For News

According to a survey carried out by Continental Research, London’s cable news channel Channel One is comparing favourably against other cable and satellite stations after 7 months on air.

Channel One, a news only channel, was rated higher than any other non- terrestrial channel as a provider of local news and information. The survey showed that Channel One achieved a score of 3.8 out of five for local news, behind the terrestrial stations, ITV at 4.0 and BBC1 at 3.9; Sky News scored 3.4, BBC2, 3.2 and Channel 4, 3.1.

Continental Research also carried out research for Sky into audiences in pubs and clubs for its Sports channel. A sample of 1,000 adults was recruited to fill in viewing diaries. Across 5 key weekday football matches covered, out-of -home viewing increased in-home audiences by 57%. A measure of audiences for Murphy’s English Open Golf Tournament showed that golf club audiences swelled the in-home audience by around 200,000 viewers.
