Exclusive

Chris Goldson, director of commercial marketing and pitch development at ITV, has left the broadcaster.

In an internal email seen by The Media Leader, Simon Daglish, ITV’s deputy managing director, commercial, praised Goldson’s “vision, ambition and energy”.

Goldson joined ITV in 2011 from Virgin Radio (now part of News UK) and Absolute Radio, where he was commercial director.

He was recruited in the months following a restructure within ITV’s commercial team that led to the appointment of Kelly Williams as director of sales and Daglish as Williams’ deputy. Goldson previously worked in commercial roles at BBC Magazines, where he was group ad manager at BBC Good Food, and the online businesses Uovo and e-Space.

Goldson will not be replaced at ITV. His team will now report to Kate Waters, ITV’s director of client strategy and planning.

Speaking to The Media Leader, Goldson said: “I’ve had an amazing 13 years at ITV. The business has changed so much and it’s been exciting to be part of that team as it’s taken television to its next stage.

“I’ve had a chance to play with the most exciting train set.”

Projects Goldson has led at ITV include the annual Palooza event, the broadcaster’s autumn upfronts in which it tells media buyers and advertisers about its future programming plans and latest products.

The Media Leader can also reveal that Goldson will be setting up his own consultancy, with ITV as his first client.

As he explained: “It’s about working with individuals and teams to help them become really great presenters and storytellers, helping businesses to find their commercial stories and helping them to build team culture around those stories.”

Bonfires & Fireworks will begin operations in September.
