City AM Launches Ahead of Plan

City AM, the new the daily free newspaper for the city has launched today – it had been thought the launch would be mid-month – with a 24-page issue and an initial print run of 60,000 copies.

The paper is being distributed by hand in the City of London and Canary Wharf from 6am.

The aim is to grow circulation to 100,000 copies within the first three months.

In April the Financial Times (circulation 424,849 Feb-July 2005) launched FTpm, a free double-sided A4 handout distributed across the City of London only. (see FT Launches Compact Afternoon Freesheet)
