City AM Targets Commuters With Afternoon Podcast

City AM Free London newspaper City AM is to launch an afternoon podcast to target commuters with the latest financial news on their journey home from work.

The new service, called City PM, is being produced in association with Threadneedle Investments, the UK’s third largest retail investment fund management group.

Available every weekday from 5pm, the five-minute bulletin will summarise the day’s city news, as well as providing a preview of the next day’s paper.

The podcast will be available from www.cityam.com and www.threadneedle.co.uk free of charge, with Threadneedle running a sponsored message in the opening and closing sequences of each bulletin.

The content will be recorded in the style of a radio news bulletin and produced by broadcast journalist Giles McMullen.

Commenting on the podcast, City AM editor David Parsley said: “City PM will provide a unique service to the business community. Unlike podcasts before it, this will not simply be a read-through of the morning paper, but a slickly-produced bulletin that will preview the next day’s news.”

Sales and marketing director, Jeremy Phillips, added: “Launching a podcast makes perfect sense for City AM, as our online reader research shows that more than half of our readers own i-pods or MP3 players. It also allows us to satisfy the demand for CITY A.M. news outside our City of London and Canary Wharf distribution points.”
