Classic FM, due to be introduced onto the airwaves on Monday, is giving us a taste of things to come, with pre-recorded tapes of Bach’s Third Concerto and soothing country sounds complete with birdsong being broadcast on the frequency all this week.
The station plans to broadcast 24 hours a day as soon as it is fully operational and will include news slots, weather and business information. It is thought that a vast percentage of Classic FM listeners will tune in from Radio 4 and Radio 1.

We have brought together one of the most talented teams in British radio and they have worked hard to bring to fruition a unique and exciting concept.”
Hoping to attract listeners in the ABC1 socio-demographic sector, Classic will go on air at 6am Monday morning with Nick Bailey introducing the first show. Details of the launch day will be available on MediaTel on Monday.
