Clear Channel Outdoor Wins Leeds Contract

Clear Channel Clear Channel Outdoor UK has won the five-year contract to operate large format outdoor advertising displays on Leeds City Council land.

Clear Channel Outdoor has held the Leeds contract for the last six years, and it currently covers 71 key 48-sheet and 96-sheet displays in Leeds, including the 96-sheet Monopole Special on the M621, for which planning consent has already been obtained to convert to lightboxes.

Barry Sayer, chief executive of Clear Channel Outdoor UK, said: “We have been Leeds City Council’s advertising partner for the last six years and are delighted to be able to extend this for a further five.

“These are the best locations in the City and we will invest heavily in upgrading a number of the displays.”

A Council spokesperson said: “Following a rigorous procurement process we are pleased to announce that Clear Channel has been awarded the five-year contract to operate large outdoor advertising displays on Leeds City Council land.

“We look forward to working with Clear Channel to upgrade the quality of the council’s advertising displays in Leeds which play an important part in promoting the city’s diverse attractions to its thousands of visitors and residents and supporting its business success, all of which contribute to the city’s ambition to go up a league and continue to compete as a major European city.”

In February, Clear Channel unveiled a new curved LG LED screen at its ‘Piccadilly Spectacular’ site (see New LG Screen For Clear Channel’s Piccadilly Site).
