comScore has extended its contract with UKOM to remain an exclusive partner for online media audience measurement in the UK.

Originally appointed in 2012, the renewed agreement will ensure that comScore continues as UKOM’s official data supplier until March 2018, and is based on a rolling review process that can extend the contract beyond then.

The new contract will also ensure that UKOM – which is jointly owned by digital publishing trade body AOP, and the Internet Advertising Bureau – and comScore are continuously working towards measurement of new platforms to “address the evolutions of new technologies and consumer behaviour.”

The renewed appointment has been welcomed by leading industry figures, with Guy Phillipson, CEO of the IAB UK, commenting: “UKOM’s appointment of comScore in 2012 proved to be very fruitful for publishers, especially as multi-platform reporting became essential for monetising content across screens.

“As the digital publishing industry constantly evolves, we feel confident that comScore and UKOM will continue to deliver the solutions that media owners need to thrive.”

Bob Wootton, director of media and advertising at ISBA, added: “Trusted measurement is essential for advertisers to take full advantage of the opportunities that the digital channel affords in reaching consumers.

“We applaud UKOM and comScore on the results they have delivered in the past two years and are eager to see the benefits this partnership will bring to the advertising community in the future.”
