Connected TV set to dominate the market by 2020

Video on-demand services will grow from the current 3% of the global video market to 12% by 2020.

According to IDATE’s Next Gen TV report, connected TV will make up 63% of the new over-the-top services market, while PC viewing will take a back seat to relatively new devices in 2019.

The report goes on to predict that the global TV services market will see an annual growth rate of 4.7% over the next few years, bringing the total up from today’s €233 billion to €355 billion in 2020.

IDATE also stated that while the past 18 months have seen connected TV making waves in the industry, it will be a while before the effects are felt.
