Consumer Approval For Online Xmas Shopping

The growing popularity of online shopping in the US is illustrated by a new survey from WSL Strategic Retail in which 73% of those questioned said that they made purchases via the internet in the 2002 Christmas period.

The consultancy reports that 84% of US consumers said they did either the same or more online shopping in the 2002 holiday season compared to the year before. Similarly, 71% admitted to spending the same amount or more than in the 2001 holiday period.

These findings support the latest research from Forrester which concluded that US online sales increased by 52% during 2002 (see US Online Sales Rise 52% In 2002).
