Daily Telegraph Could Launch Tabloid Edition

Daily Telegraph The Daily Telegraph has not ruled out launching a tabloid version of the paper, according to an online survey it has carried out.

If the tabloid version goes ahead it will initially be launched in the London area, the survey revealed.

The smaller sized edition would not replace the current broadsheet but would rather be offered alongside it in order to attract new readers.

The Daily Telegraph‘s customer insight and strategy department said, to members of the Telegraph panel in an online survey: “The Telegraph is considering launching a compact edition Monday to Friday that will be available as well as the broadsheet edition for the London area.

“”If such a thing were available, which one would you prefer?”

The paper is currently in the process of moving its newsroom to a multimedia space in Victoria (see Newspapers In Multi-Media Reshuffle).

In 2003, The Times launched its tabloid edition, following on from the Independent‘s re-format, in a bid to boost the paper’s circulation (see Times Announces Launch Of Tabloid Edition In London).
