Shareholders in Midlands Radio have been given three weeks to decide whether to agree to the proposed takeover by London-based Capital Radio. The offer, which was announced on Friday, has been accepted by 52% of shareholders, and predictions are that the others will follow in the same vein. If Capital succeeds in taking over the radio group it will effectively be able to reach 30% of the UK’s population through the airwaves (Newsline 22/1).
