The number of global DSL subscribers practically doubled during 2002, according to a new study by Point-Topic.
The broadband research company calculates that 5.7 million digital subscriber lines were added worldwide in the final quarter of 2002 taking the total to 36.3 million. It is estimated that North America and Latin America together accounted for 7.1 million DSL subscriber lines by the end of December.
Point-Topic predicts that 60 million DSL lines could be installed by the end of 2003.
