Egmont UK launches customer publishing business

Egmont Building Egmont is launching a dedicated in-house customer publishing business, called CanDo, to provide bespoke book publishing for brands.

The seven-strong CanDo team, will report to Gillian Laskier, group sales director at Egmont, building on earlier projects such as the Mr Men/Little Miss ‘free for every reader’ book promotion with the Mirror newspaper and on-pack offers such as the current Weetabix promotion with Shaun the Sheep.

Rob McMenemy, managing director, Egmont UK said: “This is an exciting new venture and a natural expansion of Egmont’s UK business. CanDo gives us the opportunity to reach a whole new range of clients by bringing together Egmont’s talent for creating original content from scratch and our links to some of UK’s most high profile licensed characters.”

Helen Stables, head of customer publishing, Egmont said: “In the current economic climate, companies are under increasing pressure to scrutinise the effectiveness of their marketing spend.

“Children’s books are the perfect example of a cost effective sales incentive, welcomed by parents and adding long lasting value to a client’s brand.”
