Elvis Gets A Big Audience For ITV1

James Bond The King was a big draw for ITV1 last night, with Young Elvis In Colour grabbing a peak of 3.6 million adults (an 18.9% share of the audience) in its 9pm timeslot.

The insightful documentary, shown 30 years after the death of one of pop culture’s biggest icons, featured rare colour archive and home movies of Elvis performing live, touring and making personal appearances.

On BBC One at 8pm was a repeat of The Inspector Lynley Mysteries, which was a change from the advertised episode.

The show, originally on last year, had a peak audience of 4.4 million adult viewers (a 25% share), whilst an average of 4.2 million stayed with it throughout its hour and a half duration.

The BBC has decided to axe The Inspector Lynley Mysteries after six years, following the reduction of the sixth series from four episodes to two.

Big Brother, on Channel 4 at 9pm, had a peak audience of 3.3 million adults (a 17.1% share) and an average audience of 3.1 million adults.

On BBC Two at 9pm was the comedy double bill of Mock The Week and Hyperdrive, with the topical news panel show getting a peak of two million adult viewers (a 10.1% share), whilst the sci-fi sit-com had a peak of 965,000 adults (a 4.9% share).
