Emap’s Group Finance Manager Resigns

Magazine and radio group, Emap, has announced the resignation of its group finance director, Gary Hughes, after five years at the company with agreement that he will leave in May, after the group’s preliminary results are issued.

Commenting on the departure, Tom Moloney, chief executive of Emap said: “Gary has done an excellent job for Emap over the last five years, and has been a valued member of The Board and the senior team. He leaves the business in good financial shape.”

Moloney continues: “His desire to look for broader career opportunities elsewhere has my full support, and in the meantime we wish him a happy and well-deserved rest.”

Hughes added: “My five years at Emap have been very rewarding for me. I will now fulfil my commitment to see through to the year-end and support Tom in an orderly transition. I will be taking a short career break to spend time with my family in Scotland over the summer, before pursuing opportunities elsewhere.”

Emap recently published an upbeat trading statement showing a strong performance in its UK consumer magazine division, with consumer magazine copy sales revenues going up by 5% on an underlying basis (see Emap Reveal Positive Trading Statement).

The group also revealed that its consumer magazine advertising division enjoyed a 4% year on year rise for the year ending 31 march 2005. Elsewhere, radio airtime revenues from Emap’s analogue and digital stations in the UK outperformed the market in the second half of the year, finishing up by 2%.
