Eyre Understood To Have Quit RTL Post

Richard Eyre is thought to have left European broadcaster RTL, where he was director of strategy and content, due to frustration about his position caused by the Pearson/CLT-Ufa merger which created the company last year.

Eyre left his job as chief executive of the ITV Network in November 1999 to head Pearson’s TV department and a replacement for him at ITV is still to be found. When the merger which formed RTL occurred, Eyre’s job description changed and despite being tipped for the chief executive job at RTL interest Channel 5 last year, he has now decided to quit the company without having his next position lined up.

RTL is currently in a closed period prior to releasing its annual results on Wednesday of this week and has refused to comment on Eyre’s departure.
