Five Continues US Imports With First HBO Drama

Big Love Five is continuing to sign high profile American shows to shore up its primetime schedules, with its latest acquisition, a drama from US producer HBO, likely to continue the success of House and the CSI franchise.

The new programme, Big Love, follows a polygamist with three wives and a successful business to maintain. Airing in 12 parts, the programme will hit American screens next month, before being broadcast by Five this spring.

Big Love is Five’s first signing from HBO, which is responsible for hits including Six Feet Under, Sex and the City and The Sopranos. The producer has also worked with the BBC on high profile collaborations, including Rome and Extras.

Five’s primetime schedules have been helped tremendously by its American imports, with the broadcaster recently securing extended rights to House and the Law & Order brand (see Five Extends Broadcast Rights To High Rating Imports).

Elsewhere, the channel’s new series of CSI has proved successful, notching up impressive viewing figures since its debut earlier this month (see Five Puts ITV To Shame With New CSI).
