Flytxt Rolls Out On-Pack SMS Campaign for Carling

Mobile marketing company Flytxt has launched the first on-pack SMS campaign for Carling.
The campaign invites Carling drinkers to text in codes printed on the inside of over 2 million multi-pack boxes for the chance to win tickets to an exclusive Manic Street Preachers concert. After texting the code to a special number, players will instantly receive a bounce-back text message informing them if they’ve won.
Four different types of codes will used on the packs, enabling Carling to get a better understanding of the effectiveness of different types of packaging.
Commenting on the initiative, Moyra Harvey, account director at KLP Euro RSCG, which developed the campaign with Flytxt, said: “Text to win allows us to offer a simple yet engaging instant win mechanic, for exclusive gig tickets that can only be obtained through Carling.”
Pamir Gelenbe, director of corporate development at Flytxt added: “The text and win mechanic is a proven formula and so we’re confident of some strong results from this campaign.”
Last week the Mobile Data Association (MDA) released a study showing that more and more businesses are using SMS to communicate with their customers. The report also highlights the importance of using SMS as a marketing tool and predicts that the trend will be accelerated by the growth of applications designed to promote the use of text messaging for business purposes (see MDA Predicts Growth In Text Marketing).
The latest figures from the MDA show that 1.35 billion person-to person text messages were sent during July, compared to the 992 million texts sent in July last year (see Exam Results Boost July’s Text Message Total).
