Flytxt Takes Mobile Phones Users To The Movies

Mobile marketing company Flytxt is launching a national SMS advertising campaign to promote FilmFour’s latest cinema release.

The campaign, which launches this week, is designed to raise awareness of Nicole Kidman’s new comedy Birthday Girl. Mobile phone users will be offered the chance to win tickets to the premier of the film and those taking part in the promotion will receive a virtual ‘two for one’ film voucher redeemable at Warmer Village Cinemas.

The competition, which targets FilmFour’s database of opt-in subscribers, will also be advertised in the national press in an attempt to generate “maximum interest” in the forthcoming release.

Last month Flytxt formed a partnership with GWR to launch a World Cup SMS competition across the radio group’s 31 local radio stations (see GWR Rolls Out World Cup SMS Activity). The promotion, which covers The Mix network and digital radio stations Core, Planet Rock and The Storm, is intended to give listeners the chance to win cash prizes via SMS interaction.

The latest figures from the Mobile Data Association (MDA) show that 1.3 billion text messages were sent in the UK during April, an increase of one million on March. The MDA is predicting a continued rise in text messaging for May, with thousands thought to have used SMS to make their bank holiday arrangements (see Text Trend Shows No Signs Of Slowing During April).
