‘Future of TV’ seminar coming next month

MediaTell Group Logo MediaTel Group is hosting a full morning seminar next month looking at the ‘Future of TV’, which will be examining Ofcom’s reviews of PSB and CRR and asking what the future holds for Channel 4.

The morning’s first session will look at the future of TV in terms of advances in technology and the impact upon viewing with the long-term implications of change for content providers, advertisers and agencies.

The panel will discuss:

  • What is the best outcome of the Channel 4 debate for advertisers?
  • Will the conclusions of the PSB report open the way to a fundamental change in UK broadcast media?
  • How can brands engage with audiences in the new age of television?
  • Will terrestrial networks still have the power to influence and entertain in the future?
  • Is there enough revenue generated from new technology to sustain NPD in so many areas?
  • Is timeshifting and VOD a major problem or an opportunity for advertisers? And how can it be measured effectively ?
  • Do agencies spend enough time utilising all potential broadcast avenues available?

Following a short break, the second panel will look at short term trading issues, debating the impact of online growth on TV revenues and how TV will stand up in 2009.

The panel will attempt to answer the following questions:

  • What are the threats of online video to broadcasters and what are the benefits to advertisers?
  • Could TV do more to compete against the growth of online?
  • Will the current climate lead major advertisers to focus more spend on what they know best (TV) in 2009?
  • What should happen with the CRR review and how will this and other factors influence TV pricing over the next 12 months and beyond?

Panellists confirmed for the event so far include Tricia Wilber, executive vice president of Disney Media Advertising Sales and Marketing Group; Jim Hytner, commercial director of Top Up TV; Claire Tavernier, executive vice president of FMX at FremantleMedia; David Pemsel, director of group marketing at ITV; Jonathan Gillespie, head of media solutions, YouTube; Nick Bampton, managing director of Viacom Brand Solutions; Chris Hayward, head of investment at ZenithOptimedia; and Ray Snoddy, media journalist.
