Almost eight-and-a-half million adults tuned in to see Germany’s much deserved 1-0 win over Poland last night, giving BBC1 a 33% adult audience share.
Corrie was the game’s only real rival, which managed over seven million adult viewers during the match preamble. Channel 4 put up a reasonable fight with Deal Or No Deal taking 11% of the viewing share (more than two million adult viewers) and Big Brother managing an average of almost four-and-a-half million adult viewers or 20% of the viewing share.
The Germany v Poland match on BBC1 was a hit with ABC1 Men, with viewing figures peaking at more than two-and-a-half million of them, or almost 50% of ABC1 Men watching television at the time.
The two matches on ITV1 also drew large viewing numbers. More than two-and-a-half million adults watched Tunisia draw 2-2 with Saudi Arabia, 25% of viewers at the time, while Spain’s 4-0 thrashing of the Ukraine attracted a peak of over two million adult viewers or 26.5%.
ABC1 Men also flocked to ITV1’s matches; almost half-a-million (44%) for Spain v Ukraine and a peak of over one million (39%) for Tunisia v Saudi.
