Global Internet-connected TV subscriptions have topped the 100 million mark for the first time after a 4.8% increase in the first quarter of 2014, according to new research from Point Topic.
During Q1 2014 there were 4.6 million new subscriptions, taking the total number of subs to 100.9 million.
Eastern Europe reported the highest level of growth with net additions of 0.63 million, up 11.6%, but it was East Asia that led the way for net additions with almost 2.6 million new subscriptions, up 5.7%.
The top ten IPTV countries for the first quarter of the year remained broadly static, with China at the top of the leader-board, followed by France, the US, South Korea and Japan. The United Kingdom came in 8th place with a total of 1.9 million subscribers.
