Global Radio Hires New Chief Exec Following GCap Merger

Global Radio Global Radio has appointed Stephen Miron, former executive at the Mail on Sunday, as chief executive of the combined Global and GCap radio business.

Miron was previously the managing director of the Mail on Sunday and the Mail Online and was behind the exclusive Prince CD giveaway last year.

Global has also announced a number of other executive moves, with Don Thomson becoming chief operating officer of the radio division and Michael Connole becoming chief financial officer.

Richard Park, who joined the company a year ago, will move to the new role of group executive director as well as director of broadcasting.

The moves come after the Office of Fair Trading gave Global’s £375 million GCap takeover the all clear, following initial competition issues in the Midlands which were resolved by the company offering to sell off a number of stations in the area (see Global Offers To Sell Off Midlands Stations).

Ashley Tabor, Global founder and group chief executive, said: “[Stephen] is highly regarded within the media sector and I have been impressed with his achievements within the newspaper industry over many years and in particular the innovative and exciting developments he has brought to the Mail on Sunday.”

Miron said: “Ashley Tabor’s vision of creating the largest commercial radio business within the UK has now become a reality and I look forward to joining his company at this very exciting time.”
