Google has launched a series of diagnostic tools and a directory of mobile site developers in a bid to help companies “mobilise” sites.
The GoMo (Go Mobile) initiative follows new eMarketer research, which estimates that US mobile advertising will reach $4.4 billion by 2015, up from $1.23 billion this year. The research firm suggests that mobile search will see strong growth, with spending on mobile search rising from $185 million in 2010 to nearly $1.8 billion in 2015.
Google plans to grow its mobile ad business from $1 billion in 2010 to about $2.5 billion this year. The new tool will read the specs on the site and provide recommendations on how to make it easier for visitors to use.
