Google TV to add international channels in the US

Google has announced plans to add a number of new international channels in the form of apps to the Google TV platform in the US.

The new channels include al-Jazeera, the Chinese-language PPTV, the IslamBox collection of channels, Yupp TV (which features Indian content) and Japan’s Crunchyroll.

The channels will only be available to US viewers, though Google said it plans to roll out internationally through the course of 2012.

Google TV currently has 150 optimised apps.
