Google’s search market share slips – but still dominant


Google has dropped to its lowest percentage market share of UK search in five years.

Experian Hitwise, reports that October figures released suggest 89.3% of all web searches in the UK were made using Google.

Microsoft’s Bing now has 5% of the market, with Yahoo’s Ask in third place. Microsoft’s Windows 8 operating system has Bing installed by default instead of Google.

Google is the leading search engine in many places around the world. However, in China Baidu is number one and in Russia, the leader is Yandex.
