Havas Announces New Structure For Euro RSCG Worldwide

Paris based advertising group, Havas, has announced a new leadership of Euro RSCG Worldwide following the resignation of James R. Heedin, resulting in the formation of a new international team to lead operations.

Mercedes Erra and Stephane Fouks have been named as the executive co-chairmen of Euro RSCG Worldwide, with David Jones assuming the position as the new chief executive officer and Remi Babinet as chief creative officer.

Commenting on the appointments, Philippe Wahl, chief executive officer of Havas said: “Mercedes, Stephane, David and Remi respectively have helped their agencies achieve tremendous momentum. Given their commitment to excellence and dedication to their clients, it is a natural evolution for Havas to elevate them to new responsibilities and challenges.”

The out-going chairman and chief executive officer of Euro RSCG Worldwide, James Heedin, is said to be pursuing other opportunities within the industry, with the decision following a mutual agreement between the two parties.

He added: “My time with Euro RSCG Worldwide has been a valuable experience. Today Euro RSCG is headed in a positive direction both professionally as well as from a business standpoint. I am quite proud of our accomplishments, and will miss many of the talented people there.”

Early last month, Phillippe Wahl was named as chief executive officer of Havas, with Vincent Bolloré, the company’s single largest shareholder, taking up the role of chairman of the board (see Bollore Named As Chairman Of Havas).

The move came after Alain de Pouzilhac stepped down from the position of chairman and chief executive, after losing control of the agency to Bolloré (see Alain de Pouzilhac Steps Down As Havas Chairman).

Despite the uncertainty in its leadership, Havas has continued to perform strongly, leading on from its turnaround which began in the first quarter of 2004. In the company’s latest financial results it showed both organic growth and Net New Business, to be up by 1.4% in the first quarter of 2005 double what it achieved in the same period of 2004 (see Havas Continues Strong Performance).
