Heery Any Sumner Join IPC ignite! Board

IPC Logo IPC ignite! managing director has announced that Kevin Heery, head of ignite! online and Andrew Sumner, publisher of Uncut magazine will be joining the IPC ignite! board, with Heery assuming the role of director of digital development and Sumner to publishing director.

Heery joined ignite! in April 2001 as technical and production manager on the award-winning NME.com. He took on commercial responsibility for all ignite! web sites as head of online in August 2003 and has led the portfolio from strength to strength.

Sumner joined in May 2002 as publishing manager for Loaded, becoming publisher of Uncut in July 2004.

Commenting on the promotions, Tim Brooks, IPC ignite! managing director said: “Andrew and Kevin both play significant roles in the success of the ignite! portfolio. It’s a pleasure to welcome them to the board at such an exciting time for ignite! and I’m sure they will be integral to our continued success moving forward.”

Sumner and Heery will join Tim Brooks, Nuts and NME publishing director Eric Fuller, group marketing director and Loaded publishing director Niall McKinney, group commercial director Karl Marsden and editorial director Steve Sutherland on the existing ignite! board.

Earlier this year, IPC ignite! underwent a restructuring of its advertising management team, designed to re-position its advertising business and optimise the potential of its brand portfolio (see NewsLine).

The move will saw group ad director, Karl Marsden, take on an expanded role as group commercial director, charged with overseeing some of the company’s flagship brands, such as Nuts,/em>, NME, nme.com, Loaded, Loaded Fashion and Uncut.

IPC ignite!’s management reshuffle follows a wider reorganisation of IPC Advertising, completed at the end of last year. The move saw IPC Advertising remain a unified brand entity, but geared up towards a more unique advertising programme and greater use of tailored ad packages (see IPC Restructures Ad Management For Greater Creativity).
