Highbury House Sell Off Continuing Apace

Highbury House Logo Highbury’s last remaining magazines were sold off yesterday, with Bournemouth-based Imagine Publishing snapping up 24 of the failed company’s computer and gaming titles.

The magazines, including PC Home, Play and iCreate were secured following a 2.7 million investment by Imagine’s venture capital backer Kleinwort Capital.

Elsewhere, Highbury’s Front, Hotdog and DVD World titles have been purchased by London-based SMD Publishing, while Encanta Media has secured a number of Highbury’s craft titles.

Meanwhile, Highbury announced today that buyout firm Endless LLP has bought its special interest magazine business for an undisclosed amount, said to be a “seven figure sum”.

The sale marks the final sale of Highbury’s spin off businesses, following the company’s defeat by a “mountain of debt” and its entry into receivership last week (see Highbury Up For Sale After Defeat By Debt).

Highbury House’s special interest magazine division housed titles including The Woodworker and Popular Patchwork, generating a turnover of £6 million and proving profitable before the publisher’s collapse.
