Highbury Target Tech Market With iHome Magazine

Highbury Entertainment have announced the launch of iHome Magazine,a dedicated title catering for those with an interest in intelligent home technology and the so called “smart home concept”.

The quarterly title, launching in October, will offer readers the latest information on integrated home electronics and reflect the growing interest in customising TV, sound and computer systems in the home to communicate with each other.

The smart home concept, as described by Highbury, has seen the demand for high-performance home cinemas and entertainment systems explode over the past few years, a market which the publisher believes it can corner with its latest offering.

iHome was initially designed as a supplement to Highbury’s What Video & Widescreen TV and has been developed into a stand alone title following its success as an insert.

Commenting on the launch Steve May, publisher of the magazine said: “The reaction from both advertisers and readers to our initiative has been excellent, and we think there is great potential in the title.”

Explaining the growing desire for extravagant home entertainment systems, May stated: “Just as home cinemas are now a must-have part of the modern house, multi-room sound systems and audio visual servers will become the next big thing. I’d expect them to become as desirable as conservatories – maybe more so, and they will transform the way people use their leisure time.”

What Video & Widescreen TV has seen poor performance recently, dropping in year on year circulation by 19% in the 12 months to December 2003. Highbury will no doubt be hoping to tempt back some straying readers with iHome, but will need to be careful not to damage its existing home entertainment offerings.
