HIV Campaign Launches Across London Underground

AIDS charity, Crusaid is launching an outdoor advertising campaign across London Underground to raise awareness of the link between HIV and poverty.

The campaign will also coincide with world AIDS day on 1 December and has been supported by Viacom Outdoor, which has provided 500 sites to be used across the London Underground Tube network.

The ads are part of a wider initiative from Viacom Outdoor to raise awareness of HIV and AIDS with promotional campaign across its outdoor, publishing, cinema and retail properties (see Viacom Launches AIDS Awareness Campaign).

Each poster points out the often harsh reality of living with HIV and has been devised using real examples of people who have been directly assisted by Crusaid’s Hardship Fund.

Commenting on the initiative, Alison Heyes, head of fundraising and events at Crusaid said: “This campaign has been developed for two important reasons. First of all we wanted to reinforce Crusaid’s work in raising awareness of the link between HIV and poverty. Statistics which we have collated from the Hardship Fund show conclusively that people living with HIV and AIDS are facing greater levels of poverty each and every year.”

She continued: “At the same time, Crusaid is determined to increase recognition of World AIDS Day. Red ribbons are becoming a rarer and rarer sight each year – that is something we are working hard to change. These posters have been specifically designed to make people remember that the HIV/AIDS pandemic has not gone away.”

Viacom Outdoor recently launched an extensive outdoor advertising campaign to promote Disney’s new animated film Finding Nemo across the London Underground Tube network (see Viacom Outdoor Rolls Out Finding Nemo Campaign).
