Interpublic Denies Sale Rumours

Interpublic Group has denied reports that it is in talks over a possible sale of the company to rival group Publicis.

Interpublic’s chief executive Michael Roth said: “We are not in negotiations with Publicis nor anyone else.”

Roth said that consolidations in the industry are possible, but that Interpublic itself is not currently in discussions with Publicis and is focused on reaching its own near-term financial targets.

Financial analyst Merrill Lynch reports that a similar denial was attributed in press reports to Publicis’s chief executive officer as well, although management commentary several weeks back suggest the company is interested in acquisitions.
